Hello, I'm Elvin. Today I would like to tell you how I got the idea to participate in the Baku Marathon and how it went.

During the pandemic, people had to adapt to a sedentary lifestyle. In fact, the lives of people around the world have been changing in the era of COVID-19. I, even during the pandemic, tried to choose a healthy lifestyle. Even when we were only allowed to leave the house at certain 3 hours during the day, I did various sports 2-3 times a week.

How Did the Idea to Run a Marathon Come About?

When the spread of the COVID-19 virus decreased in 2022, people began to return to active life. However, for many, it was: of course, difficult to get out of a passive lifestyle.  To a great degree, I thought that I needed to get rid of excess weight. After I reached 89 kg in January and 85 kg in March, I decided to exercise more to lose those extra kilos and started training. I managed to reach 76 kg in 1 month, that is, I lost about 10 kg because I focused on cardio exercises. Filled with this joy and with the help of my friend, I decided to participate in the 2022 Baku Marathon.

At first, everyone laughed at my decision. But my enthusiasm grew day by day. I was sure that out of more than 15,000 participants, I would be able to enter the top 1000 and win a medal. I set about training, believing that, at the end of them, the competition would certainly be a pleasant experience for me.

My Goal Is the Top 1000!

My main goal while participating in the marathon was to see how many kilograms I could throw off by running 21 km. Also, as I said, my dream was to be in the top 1000 and win a medal. This memory would forever remain in my memory.

No doubt, having received the first experience, I plan to participate in other marathons. I hope to run again next year. In 2023, the 31 km marathon is scheduled. As a preparation, I continue to exercise from time to time. I lead an active lifestyle. Starting in 2023, I plan to devote more time to sports and achieve high achievements. Although there are more than 500 professional athletes among the participants, I still know that I will not lose my passion and desire for the marathon running.

How Can You Become a Marathon Runner?

My first recommendation is to switch to a healthy diet. It is necessary to give preference to plant products as much as possible, as well as to exercise regularly.

  • Nutrition first: Eat boiled eggs, drink plenty of water, and avoid fats and sugar.
  • Prefer natural: Plant-based foods are important. We should try to eat natural food.
  • Sleep schedule: A good rest is priceless! Pay attention to your sleep.
  • Regular sports: An active life is essential! I recommend regular exercise.
  • Believe in yourself: If you desire to run a marathon, you can do it! All you need is your desire.

I sincerely wish that all the employees of our company would participate in the next marathon, not just me. Everyone who attended confirmed that it would be an appealing and inspiring experience. Although there is a 2-hour warm-up phase before the start of the marathon, which in itself causes fatigue, I still recommend everyone to join this walk, because it's worth it!
