Most of us tend to be negative about the world and life. The news presented to us, our primitive fears, and our deceptive perceptions "make us think" that the situation is bad, but if we look at the numbers, we will see that this is not at all the case.

 What does Factfulness say?

A Factfulness perspective shows that things are not as bad in the world as we think. As the average human lifespan increases, the amount of SO2 emitted per person decreases. Although literacy rates are constantly increasing, we can see that most people have opposite thoughts. At this stage, Factfulness says that you should not succumb to either false optimism or unnecessary pessimism. Following this theory, looking at the facts, we will achieve more objective results and thus be able to propose more constructive actions.

10 Reasons for the incorrect world perception:

Propensity to extremes: We must abandon the tendency to interpret the world in terms of opposing concepts. The world is made up of a combination of soft tones, not harsh ones.

A tendency to negativism: The news, presented to us, and events, which we learn about from the environment, are negative in color. At this stage, our task is to change our point of view.

Denial of volatility: We are mistaken in thinking that life always goes on in the same way. In life, there are both ups and downs.

A tendency to fear: Fear separates us from reality. At this point, it becomes important to perceive life as it is and to distinguish fear from danger.

A tendency to measure: It is necessary to establish a healthy relationship with numbers. Drawing conclusions from only one study can lead to an erroneous point of view.

A tendency for generalization: It should always be borne in mind that while categories are useful, they can also be misleading.

A tendency for fatalism: A fatalistic perspective can prevent us from noticing a change. We shall never forget that small changes accompany big processes.

A tendency towards a unified perspective: Looking at the world from behind the scenes can make us miss various aspects of life. We must not avoid doubting our thoughts.

A scapegoat tendency: Bad things can happen even if no one wants to. Therefore, you should avoid looking for scapegoats and focus on the reasons.

A tendency to haste: The call for urgency that we hear all the time in today's world can complicate matters. It is necessary to ask for time without hesitation and create an opportunity to see problems from all sides.

 So, what to do?

Before concluding the world, we must think multilaterally and impartially. Ideas gleaned from scientific evidence do not tell us good or bad; They reflect the actual picture and offer the key to change. If they are biased, they lower the veil before our eyes, fueling our pessimism. We need to apply some filters before accepting every piece of news and every conversation we hear. Only then we can see that change is possible and that things are not as bad as we thought.
