Through Dinara's Eyes: The Sustainability Journey of Borusan Cat Kazakhstan Operations

Hello everyone!

My name is Dinara, and it's been three years since I joined the Borusan Cat team in Kazakhstan as an ecologist. During these three years, I've faced numerous ecological challenges, and I'm proud that, together with our team, we've implemented several important changes.

The first significant step was the introduction of a waste management system. The development areas we identified in waste management had become our priority. Thanks to our efforts, we successfully implemented this procedure.

The second important step was developing and implementing effective strategies for managing environmental aspects. With population growth, increased resource consumption, and climate change, these aspects are becoming increasingly critical. Our company has focused on creating and executing strategies that promote sustainable development and preserve the natural environment for future generations.

This year, for the first time, we participated in a tree-planting initiative. This meaningful event highlighted our commitment to active environmental responsibility and involvement in improving the environment. Our team proudly planted dozens of trees in our city. We believe that every tree planted not only helps clean the air and improve the climate but also serves as an example of caring for future generations and our contribution to preserving nature.

A month ago, our company implemented measures to eliminate the use of single-use plastic tableware at the workplace. This is a step toward environmental sustainability and socially responsible business practices. Many colleagues supported us and actively started using reusable dishes. Using reusable dishes brings significant benefits not only to the environment but also to business and society as a whole. It helps reduce waste, save resources, increase social responsibility, and create a safer and more attractive environment for employees and clients. Reusable tableware is helping us achieve a 100% reduction in single-use dishes, offering environmental, economic, social, and cultural benefits, as well as health and practical advantages that contribute to innovation and growth.

We also plan to conduct educational programs for employees to raise their awareness of environmental issues and engage them in our environmental protection initiatives. We intend to continue working on improving environmental performance, implementing new technologies and methods to make our company even more environmentally responsible.

Encouraging colleagues to be eco-friendly is not just a choice; it's a lifestyle that requires constant awareness and a drive for improvement. This is a path to a sustainable future for the next generations, where each of us contributes to the protection of the planet, in line with our company’s purpose: We Create Solutions For A Better World.

Dinara Toktarbekkyzy

Dinara has been working as an ecologist for more than 10 years in various companies, spending most of her time in public service. She graduated from Narxoz University in 2008 and has been with Borusan Cat Kazakhstan for 3 years.

Dinara is passionate about psychology and regularly takes courses and training sessions, actively practicing meditation as well. She believes that applying the knowledge gained from these courses and workshops helps her live with ease and joy.

She loves cleanliness and order. Dinara believes that having a tidy home and workspace contributes to having a clear mind.

Spending time outdoors is also important to her. She enjoys walking, as it brings numerous health benefits and boosts overall well-being. Physical activity stimulates the release of endorphins, which improves mood, while walks in fresh air promote relaxation and enhance mental and emotional well-being.
